Ohio Teacher License Renewal and Recertification

Teachers from Ohio must renew their 5-year Professional Educator License every 5 years by completing the following:

• 6 semester hours of course work related to classroom teaching and/or the             area of licensure; or

• 18 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)(180 contact hours); or

• Other equivalent activities related to classroom teaching and/or the area of licensure as approved by the local professional development Committee of the employing school, district or agency since the issuance of the license renewed.

NOTE: CEU’s must be earned through regionally-accredited providers.

Reinstatement/Recertification of Teaching License

If your teaching license has lapsed, you must pay a fee to get your license reinstated and meet the professional development requirements. Teachers must complete nine (9) semester hours of coursework related to classroom teaching and/or area of licensure from an accredited institution.

Teacher's Learning Center offers online professional development and continuing education courses for teachers that meet the Ohio Department of Education's requirements for teacher required coursework for license renewal and Teacher Professional Development requirement hours.

NOTE: Make sure to confirm the specific requirements for renewing your license with your state departments or local license-granting authority prior to enrollment. For more information, please visit the Ohio Department of Education website.

What Others Are Saying About Our Courses

Amy S. -OH-

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I wanted you to know I enjoyed the books and coursework very much, and I plan to take further coursework through TLC in the years to come…”

Tandi F. -OH-

“Thank you I learned a few things I'm already trying to use in my classroom, even an old technology teacher can learn a few new tricks.“

John H. -OH-

”I am very impressed with the course material as well as the way the information is causing me to question my own teaching methods. This course will have an influence on my teaching and my students. So, thank you for suggesting it.”

Vicky W. -FL-

"Dear Joseph, thanks for this information. It was a pleasure to complete the work! I have used the research paper a few times in school meetings. Thanks again for offering these services to teachers, especially those of us living in hinterlands"

Whitney D. -CA-

"Thank you for a wonderful experience! I cannot wait to take what I have learned and apply it to my new first grade teaching job. I know I will be able to use both classes to continue improving myself as an educator."

Mary M. -WA-

"I have received all I need to know for now. Thank you so much for expediting these papers for me. I appreciate the quick response and will start work on the course at the end of our final school day today. I'm looking forward to learning more about this subject!"

Theresa. -PA-

"Hello, Dave. In my email to parents, I mentioned my very recent course with you [Designing an Online Classroom]. I had no idea how timely it would be. I do believe that my students and I haven't skipped a beat! Of course, it changes things a fair amount, but I am very glad to already have experience with tools that were fun in the class room but indispensable now!"

Jean W. -MN-

"The course I took was perfect for me as I am trying to write some Health curriculum with two other Health Teachers in the building. Teaching in Special Education and Regular Ed allows me to se subjects from both sides. Instead of doing the two page paper at the end, I choose to write a differentiated lesson plan for my Health class as that will be beneficial to me. Great course! I have recommended to a few others as well. Rubric for grading. My writing assignment corresponds with A/B Grade Area"

Kimberly W. -CO-

"I LOVED the Assertive Discipline text and have already begun to implement many of the aspects - behavior narration, 100% compliance - 100% of the time - in to my classroom."
